Chiapas confirms first case of the Ómicron variant of Covid-19

Chiapas.- This Friday the Ministry of Health of the State of Chiapas confirmed the first case of the Ómicron variant of Covid-19 in the enditad, after an analysis carried out by the Institute of Diagnosis and Epidemiological Reference (INDRE). At a press conference, the head of the state Health Secretariat, Pepe Cruz, explained that the samples analyzed by the Public Health Laboratory of the state whose result is positive, are sent to Mexico City for Indre to determine if they correspond to any of the variants of COVID-19 that have begun to circulate in the country. He explained that this first case of Ómicron was detected in a 31-year-old man residing in the capital of Chiapas, who had a history of having made a trip abroad and after his return, presented symptoms last December. He pointed out that this patient presented symptoms such as: headache, joint and throat pain; fever, vomiting, chills and malaise, however, did not require hospitalization and at the moment is asymptomatic. Before the detection of the first case, the official emphasized that it is necessary to continue with the sanitary measures, not to trust or lower one’s guard in applying the recommendations, which must be done routinely to create the habit of prevention.
