‘When I am head of the Executive we will settle accounts’: Palazuelos

Roberto Palazuelos, pre-candidate for the governorship of Quintana Roo for Movimiento Ciudadano (MC), launched a threat to those who have criticized him, or who he considers defamed him, and warned that when he comes to power “he will settle accounts.”
In an interview on the program De Primera Mano, of the Group Imagen, the pre-candidate threatened his critics with settling scores, and in this way, taking revenge for winning the election.
“The time will come, when I am head of the Executive, that we settle accounts,” he said.

This threat was made after a former worker accused that allegedly in one of her hotels in Tulum they recycle the food left over from diners, but also in a context of attacks on journalists in the country.
So far in 2022, four people have been killed for their journalistic activity.
On January 25, citizens and journalists in 47 cities in 27 states of the country protested the murders of journalists and to call for help in the face of the systematic aggressions suffered by the press in Mexico, where there are 140 communicators killed since 2000 to date.

In the interview, Palazuelos explained that the woman who accuses him of recycling the food left by diners did work in his hotel, and that he sued him.
“All of that is people who pay him, which is pure dirty war. This lady is a lady who about eight years ago sued me for work and the trial never prospered because I was never her employer, her employer was a company (…) She was very hurt and now she lends herself to saying things and so on,” Palazuelos said.
The businessman said that when he becomes head of the Executive he will take action against those who have defamed him.
“No dirty war is going to stop me and all those people who are defaming me, who are saying things, I’m aiming, uh, don’t think I’m not aiming. The time will come, when I am head of the Executive, that we settle accounts.”

In this regard, Patricia Mercado, senator of Movimiento Ciudadano, wrote on her Twitter account that the pre-candidate’s comment was serious and “it is inadmissible to threaten to use an eventual power as governor to take personal revenge.”

It is very serious that Roberto Palazuelos threatens with a “settling of accounts” a woman who defended her labor rights.
It is inadmissible to threaten to use eventual power as governor to take personal revenge.

Jorge Álvarez Máynez, coordinator of movimiento Ciudadano in the Chamber of Deputies, wrote: “Power is not to settle scores. Personal revenge is not justice. This must be made clear to the candidates and to a president who persecutes those who think differently with the instruments of public power. In Movimiento Ciudadano we are obliged to be different.”
