3 facts you need to know about the new movie “Death on the Nile”

On February 10, “Death on the Nile”,” director Kenneth Branagh’s most recent film based on the famous 1937 novel of the same name, by writer Agatha Christie, arrives in theaters.In addition to sitting in the director’s chair, Branagh stands in front of the camera to play Poirot. Actor Tom Bateman puts himself in the shoes of the handsome and charming Bouc, the detective’s right hand.

Actress Annette Bening plays Euphemia Bouc, a renowned painter and Bouc’s mother. Rounding out the cast are Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders and Letitia Wright.Disney shared a press release with three facts you can’t miss about the new release. 

The brand-new mystery thriller follows a young couple whose idyllic honeymoon is tragically interrupted by a brutal murder. In the wake of this unexpected event, Belgian detective Hercules Poirot’s vacation in Egypt aboard a glamorous steamboat turns into a shocking search for the culprit.

The film transports the audience back to the 1930s, recreating many of the places that served as inspiration for Agatha Christie’s high society mystery novel. The settings in which the story takes place range from a slum to an Egyptian spice market, and of course, the imposing waters of the Nile River. In addition, much of the action takes place aboard the majestic luxury ship S.S. Karnak, built especially for the film on a vehicle test track in England. 

After leading “Murder on the Orient Express,” Branagh knew he wanted to tackle another of his favorite Agatha Christie novels in a new film, again honoring the iconic writer’s valuable legacy. The team was fortunate to have two of Christie’s relatives, Mathew Prichard and James Prichard, involved in the production of Agatha Christie’s estate collection. The Prichards were invaluable sources for understanding the author’s attitude toward her book and setting, and the unique cast.
