Coronavirus vaccine in children: adverse effects reported

After vaccination in children against the coronavirus was strongly promoted, the most common adverse effects in Argentina were known: cough and fever with Sinopharm and muscle aches and myocarditis in exceptional cases with US doses, although without severity in both cases. In this sense, pediatrician Elizabeth Bogdanovich revealed in a conversation with Télam that all adverse effects are all without severity and are associated more with the doses of Pfizer and Modernas, than with those of Sinopharm.

“Cases have been found in children who have reported cough and fever five or seven days after receiving the Sinopharm vaccine, while in the case of messenger RNA vaccines, such as Pfizer and Moderna, muscle aches and exceptionally cases of myocarditis or pericarditis were seen,” said the doctor of the Argentine Society of Pediatrics (SAP). Although coronavirus infection tends to be milder in children and adolescents than in adults, they can get sick and cause sequelae, there are even cases of hospitalization, which is why the importance of immunizing all age groups is emphasized. In addition, he explained that children with comorbidities are more at risk of contracting serious diseases such as multisystem inflammatory syndrome, a condition in which different parts of the body (heart, lung and gastrointestinal organs, among others) are inflamed.
