Misiones suffered a massive blackout

On Saturday, the distribution company Energía de Misiones reported that, due to a failure in a corrientes transmission line, the entire province was affected with a massive power outage. Through its official Twitter account, the company posted: “Due to a failure in the 500 kVA link “Rincón Santa María” (Ituzaingó – Corrientes), the entire province is without electricity.” “The situation is currently being restored, prioritizing essential services,” they added. For his part, the governor of Misiones, Oscar Herrera Aguad, carried out the corresponding claim to achieve the restoration of energy and, through his social networks, communicated: “Now the line of 500 that supplies the province begins to be energized. We hope to have all the power in 60 minutes.”

I inform all the missionaries that there has been a cut of the 500 kva line in Rincon Santa Maria Ituzaingó (Corrientes) that provides energy to Misiones. We have already made the corresponding claim to achieve the restoration of power. pic.twitter.com/w3sfVYKA3I — Oscar Herrera Ahuad (@herrerayflia)

According to information from Télam, the cut also caused problems in the supply of drinking water. In this regard, the company Servicios de Aguas de Misiones S.A. (SAMSA), which provides water to the city of Posadas and Garupá, issued a statement where it said that “due to the cut in the supply of electricity in the general supply of Misiones, the drinking water service was interrupted in both localities.” It is still under investigation whether the massive blackout was linked to the number of active outbreaks affecting the province of Corrientes.
