Ukraine asks Mexico for clear position on conflict with Russia

The Ukrainian embassy in Mexico asked the Mexican government to set a clear position on the conflict with Russia, saying, “so far we have not felt that it condemns the aggression.”
“So far we have not felt very clearly the Mexican position, we very much respect the consistency of its support for ukraine’s territorial integrity, but today we need a very clear statement, a statement condemning Russian aggression. So far, we have not felt it,” Ambassador Oksana Dramarétska told a news conference.

The representative of the Ukrainian government said that Russia “has launched a new war, a large-scale armed conflict,” and that so far dozens of soldiers and civilians have died because of attacks with tanks, planes and artillery, and the bombing continues.
“Those are the results of the first hours of the war unleashed by the Kremlin regime, after months of threats and blackmail. The last time we have seen such actions was in World War II, when another totalitarian ruler decided that he had the right to redraw the borders of sovereign states in Europe and bring death and misery to thousands of people just to realize his perverted wishes,” he said.

On Thursday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that Mexico is not in favor of any war, but for a peaceful solution and dialogue.
During his morning press conference, he said that they will continue to call for dialogue, “that no force is used, that there is no invasion. We are not in favor of any war, Mexico is a country that has always spoken out for peace and for the peaceful settlement of disputes.”
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, reported that the Mexican community was not affected after the bombings of Ukraine by Russia, and that the embassy’s security cabinet reported that they are in contact with national families.
