411 people have been removed from stadiums for violent acts

After the acts of violence that occurred on Saturday, March 5, at the Corregidora stadium in Querétaro, authorities and clubs have reinforced surveillance in sports venues and have removed from them 411 people who have participated in fights, acts to alter order or homophobic shouting.
This was reported on Wednesday by the president of Liga MX, Mikel Arriola, during a meeting with the heads of Security of entities and municipalities of the country.
In the meeting, entitled “Safe Soccer”, both sides spoke of the actions that have been carried out since what happened in Querétaro – where a fight between Fans of Gallos and Atlas left 26 people injured – and also recognized the need to update security protocols in the stadiums.
This review and update is carried out with the participation of state and municipal security authorities, in particular entities and cities where Liga MX, Femenil MX and Expansión MX matches are played, the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC) reported through a statement.

The head of the SSC, Omar García Harfuch, who hosted the meeting, said it is important to maintain the prevention of acts of violence and reinforce it with analysis of intelligence information, coordination of command centers and the incorporation of video surveillance technologies and systems.
After what happened in Queretaro, Liga MX reported that it is working on a plan to incorporate facial recognition technology in stadiums, under the argument that this will allow to identify and proceed against violent fans.
However, civil organizations have warned that this measure may be a violation of human rights.
