The level of participation of women in business management is 34%

According to the Industrial Union of the Province of Buenos Aires (UIPBA), the presence of women in business management positions in Argentina is 34% in executive roles, 39% in management positions and 23% in production headquarters. Within the scope of the UIPBA itself, there are higher levels of parity in management positions, 48% of the authorities of the technical departments belong to the female gender. Industrial activity is one of those that offers the least employment to the female gender, only 10% of women with employment develop activities in this field. Irini Wentinck belongs to this small group, develops activities within the Board of Directors of the UIPBA and president of the Gender and Diversity Commission of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), according to the director of UIPBA the direction of the company in Argentina “is not an easy task.” The women we choose to lead face an even greater challenge, overcoming the invisible obstacles, those cultural biases that run through our belief system and that of our organizations. That is why it is so important to create networks of women, mentoring spaces with women and men who are already in leadership positions, and programs that accompany the integration of the gender perspective in organizations, “said Wentinck.
For her part, Sandra Cipolla, president of SPI Astilleros and Titular Member of the UIPBA, said that many advances have been made and that although they are slow, structural changes in a society are usually that way. In addition, they require a lot of commitment. “Little by little we will break that glass ceiling that hinders the escalation of many women to high positions,” said Cipolla.La UIPBA Vocal stressed that it is necessary to continue working on generating actions that motivate change so that “the search for equality and justice is not a battle, but a
meeting place to modify the present and future”. Finally, both UIPBA authorities agreed on UIPBA’s place as a pioneer in promoting equal opportunities. Wentinck said that a clear example of this is the creation of the MIA Network, Women of the Argentine Industry that was born in PBA and today became a federal network. Another example can be seen in the current participation of women in the organization that “went from having 5 percent women in decision-making spaces to 35 percent during the last three years.”
