“The attacks received are completely unacceptable”: Minister of Transport condemns incidents at Ñuñoa station

The Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, condemned the aggressions received by the security personnel of the Santiago Metro by street vendors at the Ñuñoa station.
It should be noted that the incident occurred when the guards carried out a control to evict the illegal trade in the station. Nine workers were injured.

“The attacks received by the security team of Metro de Santiago are completely unacceptable. Safe operation requires a space free of street vendors. These actions cannot go unpunished,” the secretary of state said.
Upon seeing the record of the incidents, the Minister indicated that “we strongly repudiate the aggressions suffered by nine members of Metro security by street vendors.”
“This is completely unacceptable, we would like to convey our total solidarity with the Metro team, with its officials and especially with those who have been attacked,” he concluded.

Incident
Regarding the incident, Captain Roberto Suárez, Ronda Officer of the Santiago Oriente Prefecture, said that “around 15 street vendors, mostly of foreign nationality, who attacked the group of private vigilantes.”
The police officer said that they managed to arrest one of the 15 involved, this will be available to the Prosecutor’s Office for the crimes of aggression and carrying a knife.
