“And the other countries, the former Soviet republics and the members of the EU, or some of them that are already members of NATO, are already under threat,” warned the Ukrainian president, who called for full sanctions and warned that there are “some leaders who say that the Russian president should be offered some way out.”
New package of measures
On the other hand, in his last speech, delivered in the early hours of Wednesday (1.6.2022), President Zelensky thanked European countries for the agreement to “significantly limit Russia’s oil imports” and said that “the practical result is less tens of billions of euros, which Russia will no longer be able to use to finance terrorism.”
“As soon as the sixth package starts working, we will start preparing the seventh. After all, there must be no meaningful free economic relations with the terrorist state,” he said.
As for the situation on the front lines, Zelensky said it has to be addressed in a “comprehensive way,” not by an area “where the most difficult situation is and that draws more attention, but by the entire front line.”
“The situation in the direction of Donbas is very difficult. Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Kurakhove are now at the epicenter of the confrontation. Given the presence of a large-scale chemical production plant in Severodonetsk, the Russian army’s attacks in the area, including aerial bombardments, are simply crazy,” he said.

“We have some success in the direction of Kherson and we advance in Kharkiv. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are rejecting pressure from the occupiers in the Zaporiya region,” he said.
