The Court again postpones the discussion of the Cabeza de Vaca case

The First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) postponed for the second time the debate on the constitutional controversies over the jurisdiction of the outgoing governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, and on the arrest warrant against him.
The issue was scheduled for discussion a week ago, on Wednesday, June 1, but was postponed to today. This afternoon, it was determined that it will be rescheduled.
Political Animal reported this week that the bill to be presented by Minister Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá refers to the arrest warrant requested by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and issued by a federal judge against the governor directly violates the Constitution, improperly supplants powers of the Congress of Tamaulipas, ignores the autonomy of the state and, therefore, it must be invalidated immediately.

The bill, which has not been made public but to which this media had access, states that the PAN leader continues to enjoy the constitutional immunity that protects him for a reason: the Congress of the entity did not validate the declaration of origin that the Chamber of Deputies ruled and, therefore, the process of removing immunity was not completed.
The process of removing the immunity of the governor of Tamaulipas began at the beginning of 2021 at the request of the FGR, for the crimes attributed to him of money laundering, criminal association and tax fraud.
The governor is implicated in possible money laundering operations for more than 100 million pesos, with resources that would come, allegedly, from possible acts of corruption and even triangulations with money linked to drug trafficking.

The project in which the matters will be resolved with the numbers 50/2021 and 70/2021 is still on the list and the votes of at least three of the five ministers of the First Chamber are required for it to be approved.
