Alejandro Moreno presents initiative for journalists after

Alejandro Moreno, national leader of the PRI, presented an initiative in which he proposes the creation of the National Commission for the Protection of Journalists, which will have the objective of guaranteeing journalistic work as well as supporting independent journalism.
So far, so normal; However, Moreno’s proposal is ironic if we take into account that a few weeks ago, some audios were disseminated in which the PRI leader affirms that journalists are not killed by bullets, but by hunger.

The audios were released by the governor of Campeche, Layda Sansores, who has been accusing “Alito” of money laundering, illicit enrichment and threats.
The audio was broadcast during the weekly program Martes del Jaguar, which is broadcast on the state government’s social networks.
In the recording, the voice of the PRI leader is allegedly heard saying: “Namás I’m going to give you a fact: journalists should not be shot dead, Dad, you have to starve them to death.”

After the broadcast, the president of the PRI said that the federal government and Morena, through Governor Layda Sansores, undertook a campaign to discredit him, with “illegally obtained and vilely edited recordings.”
Alejandro Moreno and his initiative
Almost a month after those audios were released, the legislator sent his proposal to the Chamber of Deputies.
According to the document, this commission would have the power to receive complaints of threats, formulate public policies that ensure better working conditions for this sector, as well as prepare a permanent diagnosis of the situation of violence and threat against journalists.
“The commission shall have management and budgetary autonomy, legal personality and
own patrimony, has as its essential object the protection, promotion, defense and encouragement of the journalistic work of Mexico, “reads the document.
