Mexico adds nine consecutive weeks with an increase in COVID-19 cases, said Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez, Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion.
At a press conference, he indicated that mortality increased by an average of five to seven a day in recent weeks.
While hospitalizations increase little, increasing from 4 to 6% of hospital occupancy of general beds and from 1 to 2% of beds with ventilators.

Yesterday it was reported that Mexico began epidemiological week 26 with 3,343 recent cases of COVID-19, for an accumulated of 5,965,958 infections, since the beginning of the epidemic.
According to the daily technical report of the Ministry of Health, it is estimated that 104,540 people are active cases for presenting signs and symptoms in the last 14 days.

In addition, authorities confirmed 16 more deaths from COVID, so there are at least 325,596 deaths recognized by the authorities.

The undersecretary reported that on the first day of COVID vaccination for children from 5 to 11 years old, 146,699 doses were applied in 11 entities.
He said that the interval between the first and second doses for children should be two months, eight weeks, so that they have “a greater degree of protection.”

He said COVID vaccination coverage for teens ages 12 to 17 is 60%.

López-Gatell reported that this week one million 998 thousand doses of Pfizer vaccines will arrive; one million 200 thousand will arrive on Wednesday and 798 thousand on Thursday.
