Enel joins the Business for Inclusive Growth coalition

Business for Inclusive Growth (B4IG) today announced that Enel has joined the coalition.
Business for Inclusive Growth (B4IG) is a coalition led by CEOs of global companies representing 4.4 million employees and a combined revenue of more than $1 trillion. It is united in the belief that business has a critical role to play in ensuring that any future economic growth is fairly distributed among society. Together with the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) as a strategic partner, the coalition aims to scale up business action on inequality, promoting human rights, creating inclusive workplaces and enhancing inclusion in value chains and business ecosystems.
B4IG is developing a “Path to Change” to address different forms of inequality in a coherent way through business action. Recently, the coalition has published an Inclusive Hiring Methodology and Responsible Transformation Guidelines. In addition, B4IG actively addresses issues such as just transition, human rights, the living wage and access to essential goods and services through practical tools and international initiatives.
Enel is a multinational electricity company and a leading integrated player in the global energy and renewable energy markets. The Group is present in 30 countries around the world and produces energy with a total capacity of more than 90 GW. Enel distributes electricity through a network of more than 2.2 million kilometres to more than 75 million end users. The Group brings energy to some 70 million homes and businesses. The company is committed to placing people at the centre of its strategy, understanding that fostering the inclusion, empowerment and participation of people are key to ensuring a just and equitable transition, as they will have an impact on customers and society at large. To realize this promise, “Open Power” is the defining trait that connects Enel’s purpose, mission and strategy. In this context, two interrelated concepts are fundamental:
Creating Shared Value (CSV), which refers to the notion that Enel’s long-term success depends on creating value for both companies and the communities in which they are integrated.
· Open Innovability®, which is based on the belief that sustainability will be the engine of innovation.
Both concepts work together to ensure that Enel creates value for all stakeholders through innovation towards a just energy transition.
The B4IG coalition includes companies from Europe, North America and Asia, including Accenture, AXA, BASF, BNP Paribas, Capgemini, Danone, Edelman, Enel, Caisse des Dépôts, Henkel, Hitachi, J.P. Morgan, JAB, Kering, Keurig Dr Pepper, L’Oréal, Legal and General, Mars, Michelin, Microsoft, Panera Bread, Pret A Manger, Ricoh, Salesforce, Schneider Electric, Sodexo, UniCredit, Unilever, Veolia and Vinci.
“At Enel, we believe that inclusion offers companies the opportunity to innovate, improve the working environment and foster productivity,” said Francesco Starace, CEO of the Enel Group. “Joining the B4IG network is a further step in the framework of our commitments to promote inclusive environments across our business operations and lead the way towards a just energy transition.”

Camille Putois, CEO of B4IG, said: “We look forward to working with Enel to further advance and champion inclusive business practices as a coalition. Enel’s experience and practices in the fields of inclusion and the just energy transition are closely aligned with the work we are doing at B4IG to combat inequalities in income and opportunity.”
