14 sailors, one country

Gardell said that the twentieth century was characterized by eliminating the distinctions between what is better or worse. “Today it turns out that it is the same to be right as traitor (…) everything is the same nothing is worse, a donkey is the same as a great teacher” Mexico is in mourning. 14 of the highest servants of the Fatherland have died in the line of duty. The causes and circumstances unfortunately have not been clarified by the government, but what there is no doubt is that these are Military of excellence, dedicated in body and soul to the service of the Nation and that Mexico suffers a great and painful loss. The fight against threats to national and internal security, territorial integrity, as well as the peace and tranquility of society require the highest training and preparation by the elite bodies that both in the Mexican Army and in the Navy-Navy and the extinct Federal Police exist and that are permanently working to protect the country. Their preparation not only requires perseverance, effort and vocation, but also a great dedication that implies giving up for months to see their families and friends and make the Armed Forces their only dwelling. They are men and women who know no other color or other slogan than Serve and Die for the Fatherland! Behind the arrest of leaders of criminal groups and the dismantling of gangs that cause pain among Mexican families are our military, who with intelligence, strategy and aplomb locate and arrest those who cause violence. It is those faceless women and men to whom we owe so much and recognize so little. Mexico is much larger than its government, especially the current one, thanks to the permanent, discreet, professional and transcendent work carried out by our military, who do not serve a man, but the country of Institutions that society has forged and that will prevail over any whim and personal incapacity. The death of 14 sailors after the capture of a criminal leader should not have happened. It fills us with helplessness and pain that this has happened. It is the duty of all of us to work hard and redouble our efforts so that his legacy is enlarged and never forgotten.*National President of the PRI.
