The group Progressives for unity and an even floor, which promotes the presidential aspirations of Marcelo Ebrard, asked the leadership of Morena to avoid the promotion of personal aspirations towards the Presidency of 2024.
At a press conference, the group led by Senator Malú Mícher Camarena expressed concern about a deployment of personalized promotions that involve the use of resources.
“We see with great concern that personal promotion actions have been deployed that involve the use of material and human resources, which not only threaten the fairness of the process, but also become potential illegalities and that hurts us because it is not what Mr. Andrés Manuel López Obrador taught us,” said Senator Mícher Camarena.

Mícher Camarena said that the group believes that the person who can continue the transformation initiated by the current president is Marcelo Ebrard.
Given this; and to avoid divisions within Morena, the group calls for the method of candidate selection to be similar to the one it dealt with in 2011, when Ebrard and López Obrador competed to see who would keep the candidacy. At that time both belonged to the PRD.
“We propose that the selection method be through open, verifiable, reliable, independent and accessible surveys for all citizens.”
In addition, they also request that this same year the mechanisms for the definition of who will lead the 2024-2030 project in Morena be established.
Morenistas are sanctioned
The group’s call comes after electoral authorities banned Morena from holding proselytizing events where presidential hopefuls Claudia Sheinbaum, Ricardo Monreal, Adán Augusto López, among other officials, were present.
The only one who was excluded from that call was Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard.
Governors, officials, legislators and leaders of Morena described as “excessive and violating individual freedoms and guarantees” the prohibition of the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation for the party to carry out, organize or convene proselytizing events.
