Water level in Coahuila mine dropped to 30 meters; plan more drilling

Almost two days after the collapse of a mine in Sabinas, Coahuila, which left 10 miners trapped, authorities are seeking to stop the entry of water so that rescuers can enter.
Agustín Radilla, undersecretary of National Defense, reported that the amount of water in the wells has been reduced: from 34 meters that was registered on August 3, this Friday it is reported that the level dropped to 30 meters.
“Two perforations were made that will allow a curtain to be placed to prevent more water from reaching the wells where the accident is, so there are already two perforations.”

He informed that during the day other drilling will be carried out, which will allow the water to decrease more and the bodies of rescuers, made up of six divers and 30 elements trained in search and rescue of people trapped in collapsed constructions, enter the mine.

As of this morning, 18 water extraction pumps are working at the site to speed up the rescue and one more will be integrated today.
In addition to the extraction of water, federal Civil Protection authorities said that the three levels of government and rescue mining companies are in place to continue planning the rescue work of the miners.
“We will continue to work until we rescue them. Send our solidarity, our embrace to the relatives and that we do not lose faith,” said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
