DC Board of Directors Throws Chain at Delpin for Exceeding His Mandate: Court To Maintain Complaint Against Chahin

The withdrawal of the complaint filed by the Christian Democracy against Fuad Chahin for “disloyal administration” unleashed an earthquake within the community. The darts point to Felipe Delpin, mayor of La Granja, current president of the DC and who withdrew the judicial action in the 7th Court of Guarantee of Santiago.
The criticism against Delpin’s actions came from the other members of the DC Board of Directors, who question the “unilateral action” and who do not know “the reasons that the president of the party had to renounce the defense of the patrimonial integrity of the Christian Democracy.”

Through a public statement – and which was also read by the senator and third vice president of the DC, Yasna Provoste – the signatories indicate that “as is public knowledge, from the background provided by the Electoral Service and others collected within the party, the decision to file judicial actions was agreed, so that it was the courts of justice that determined the civil and criminal responsibilities, if they exist, with respect to the alienation of the properties of the collectivity. This is what corresponds in a rule of law and in compliance with our statutes.”
“Today, we have learned of Felipe Delpin’s withdrawal from that complaint in agreement with the defendant Fuad Chahin. The other members of the board of directors, who come to subscribe to this statement, express our disagreement with this unilateral action and point out that we do not know the reasons that the president of the party had to renounce the defense of the patrimonial integrity of the Christian Democracy, which could imply a permanent inhibition to insist judicially in the case. ” Adds.
In that line, they recall that “it was Fuad Chahin’s own administration that presented some of the documents objected to by SERVEL, which determined that said body sent the background to the Public Ministry, which is why the Christian Democracy could not be left out of adhering to these actions.”
“There is, therefore, no intention to formulate a political attack, but only to act within the framework of the mandate we have received to ensure the patrimonial integrity of our party. That is why we will request the North Central Prosecutor’s Office to continue with the investigation and in the same way, the Court that considers the withdrawal of the complaint presented by the national president Felipe Delpin as not accepted, since it exceeds the attributions of its legal mandate, including our party statutes and the Law of Political Parties, ” Indicate.
“As representatives elected by the rank and file of our party, it is our responsibility to protect the heritage of the Christian Democracy, so we will insist on the search for judicial and administrative actions to clarify in the courts the facts observed by the Electoral Service,” close the statement that was signed, in addition to Provoste, by Aldo Mardones, first vice president; Héctor Barria, second vice president; Patricio Ferreira, fourth vice president; Francisca Hernández, fifth vice president; Cecilia Valdés, Secretary General; and Paulina Mendoza, national president JDC.
