Presidential delegate in the RM after positive police balance in Barrio Meiggs: “We have managed to make the presence of the State felt in abandoned places for a long time”

“We need to give a signal to the citizenry that order is back, that the state is returning to the places where it had eventually ceased to be. Therefore, it is important to give this signal that we are showing now, that effectively little by little we are advancing in that more orderly, cleaner streets are seen, that it is effectively noticed that the State is”. This is how the presidential delegate of the Metropolitan Region, Constanza Martínez, referred to the police and municipal work that was carried out in the historic santiago neighborhood, framed in the recovery of public spaces and supervision.
“We want to give the signal that effectively this is not going to be a one-day intervention, but we intend that they are solutions that are sustainable over time and that allow the recovery of public spaces for all,” explained the regional authority on that occasion. Today, just over two months after the start of the operations, the figures show that the new protocols have worked.

Although Carabineros registered a total of 452 crimes of greater social connotation in relation to the months of January to May.
