Leticia Ramírez will replace Delfina Gómez in the SEP

The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) already has a new head. On Monday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that Leticia Ramírez, until today responsible for citizen attention in the Presidency of the Republic, will be the one who relieves Delfina Gómez in office.
For more than a week it was announced that Gómez would leave the SEP to concentrate on his candidacy with Morena for the government of the State of Mexico, which will be contested in local elections in 2023. It will be the second time that Gomez competes for that governorship. The first was in 2017, when he lost to PRI member Alfredo del Mazo.
In the context of the relay in the SEP, the president said that tomorrow a report on education will be presented.

Before announcing who will take over from Gómez, López Obrador praised his work on issues such as contact with teachers, among other points.
However, educational specialists consulted by Animal Político consider that Gómez leaves pending his main task, which in his opinion was to leave a diagnosis of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to the students, as well as a plan to overcome these problems.
About the new secretary, López Obrador stressed this Saturday that she is a teacher by profession and so far in the six-year term she has been in charge of receiving and attending to requests from citizens.

Since the beginning of the six-year term, people have been going to the National Palace every day to try to deliver their requests to the president and even meet with him or meet him at his morning press conference. Ramirez had the job of attending to them.
