The Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, ruled out that the burning of premises and the blockades in different states of the country, events registered last week, are terrorist attacks.
“The state does not want to minimize it, but of course there is a strategy to combat insecurity that is yielding results,” he said.
From the National Palace, the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, stressed that in Mexico there is stability despite the violent events registered in Jalisco, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Baja California and Chihuahua.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, said that the violent acts are due to the fact that “there is weakening in criminal groups.”

“They want to feel strong and generate violence so that they can send messages that they are still strong, when little by little this criminal structure has been undermined,” he said.

In addition, the Undersecretary of Security, Ricardo Mejía, said that in this administration it has been possible to reduce the logistical and financial capacity of criminal groups.
“The criminal groups had the purpose of making criminal propaganda and generating social psychosis, now that their criminal capacity has decreased,” he said.
According to the undersecretary, it was the third weekend so far in 2022 with fewer intentional homicides, with a total of 196.
“For four months there has not been a weekend with less than 200 homicides. Currently, different actions of criminal prosecution are still underway to achieve the link to the process of those responsible for the violent acts, “he said.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador minimized in a press conference the problems of violence in the country and said that it is false that they prevent governability.
“Tell the people of Mexico to be calm, that there is governability, there is stability. And at the same time, there is an interest of our adversaries, the conservatives, to magnify things, to do yellowish, sensationalist journalism,” he said.
The president added that his opponents want to use the issue to create a perception of insecurity and affect his government.
