“El Suplente”: Diego Lerman’s new film with Juan Minujín premieres at the San Sebastian and Toronto Film Festivals

Diego Lerman’s new film (“Tan de repente”, “Meanwhile”, “Una Especie de Familia”) with Juan Minujín will be presented on September 11 at the Toronto International Film Festival and on September 17 it will compete for La Concha de Oro de San Sebastián, where another great national premiere will also participate as is the imminent “Argentina, 1985”.

The film with which the protagonist had been “dreaming more than two years ago” -as he expressed in his social networks- follows a professor of Letters at the University of Buenos Aires who begins to teach literature in a periférida locality of the city and once there begins to get involved in the personal stories of his students.

Among them, the one that will monopolize his attention and will require his help is that of Dilan, “who is persecuted by a narco group in the neighborhood in search of revenge,” as the synopsis tells us.

The film has a cast made up of renowned talents such as Rita Cortese, the Spanish Bárbara Lennie (recognized for films such as “Contratiempo”, and who comes from working with Lerman in “Una Especie de Familia”, 2017), along with Alfredo Castro, María Merlino, Lucas Arrua and Renata Lerman.

For its part, Minujín comes from recent releases at the box office as were the film released and available on Netflix, “The Wrath of God”, and the last two seasons of “El Marginal 4 and 5”. In turn, a few weeks ago he traveled to Italy to record a film with Angelina Jolie, which everything would indicate that it is “Without Blood”, of which the actress Salma Hayek will also be part.

As if that were not enough, Minujín will soon premiere the romantic comedy “Matrimillas” (also for the streaming of the red N), together with Luisana Lopilato; and is currently rehearsing for the next project being prepared by director Ariel Winograd (“The Theft of the Century”, “Today the World Is Fixed”).
