The PAN adds Mauricio Kuri as president

The PAN added another name to the list of possible candidates for the presidency, by placing the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri, there. At the same time, PAN Senator Lilly Tellez, who had already made her presidential aspiration public, said she can beat Claudia Sheinbaum, head of government of Mexico City and possible future candidate of Morena.
During the plenary meeting of the PAN senators, the leader of the party, Marko Cortés, said next to Kuri that he has cards to compete in 2024.
“Mauricio Kuri is, without a doubt, a leader of civil society because he is not a militant of National Action; however, he thinks, he has the values and convictions as we have them in National Action and of course he could be a great standard-bearer of our party and society, which today sees that things in Mexico are going from bad to worse,” Cortés said at a press conference.

In that same meeting with the media, Tellez said that if Kuri were elected the candidate she would support him, but insisted that she wants to get to the ballot and defends that aspiration.
In addition, she claimed to have the ability to compete with Sheinbaum, despite the fact that polls place her in the lead among the candidates for the presidency, postulated by Morena.
“And with regard to the measurement between Claudia Sheinbaum and myself, that measurement has started to be done a long time ago; I believe, I am convinced that I can beat Sheinbaum, because she has all the money of the federal government, the support of the man who has the vocation of a bartender to uncover her and has a showcase and a stage, in which it is promoted daily, “he said, alluding to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“I don’t have a campaign, I don’t put a five and yet I’m already competitive against Claudia Sheinbaum,” he insisted.
Other PAN members who have made their presidential aspirations public are federal deputy Santiago Creel and former delegate Demetrio Sodi.
