The 3 rescued felines arrive at the Morelia Zoo

Morelia, Michoacán.- The Morelia Zoo received three feline babies that were rescued after a search of a property in the town of Tinaja de Vargas, in the municipality of Tanhuato, by elements of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Civil Guard and the Army.
The rescued specimens, a lion, a jaguar and a tiger between two and four months old, were transferred to Benito Juárez Park by federal and state security elements and the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa), said the director of the park, Julio César Medina Ávila.
He said that the faunal enclosure has the capacity to receive these three specimens and, above all, the experience in the handling of big cats, which will allow them to give them the necessary attention and medical care. He reported that the animals will be quarantined and that they will remain there for at least a couple of months.
Medina Ávila pointed out that at the moment the health conditions of the felines are unknown, since the food they were given was not adequate for this type of animal, which can cause disorders in their metabolism; However, as they are babies, it may be easier to treat them if they have any problems.
She said that it is not known if the proper breastfeeding or nutrition protocol was followed during her first months of life, so it will have to be evaluated if something that could have an impact on her development and growth was omitted.
