She was denied rent for being blind: “In the age of inclusion, this act of discrimination”

The actress and dancer Eliana Manzo denounced through social networks that she was denied the rent for being a blind person.  “We were going to rent with my partner and my baby but the landlord refused because I don’t see. Because she blindly she didn’t want to rent me,” the woman began denouncing through her social networks, where she published a video telling her story to make her situation visible.

“Having everything resolved to finalize the contract, the owner refused, do you know why? because I don’t see. Because he was blind, he didn’t want to rent me,” he said. “In the era of inclusion, such an act of discrimination against a person with a disability,” continued Eliana, who also said that it was not the first. “Others without reaching the contract instance also refused because of the fact that he did not see,” he said.
“What is done in this situation? I ask for help in relation to a human gesture to tell me why these things happen to discriminate against a person who does not see, this access to housing. We all have the right to access housing without going through these bad times and with the ease that concerns us, because we already have enough to suffer some physical lack, as well as to embody the social discrimination that exists for access to live, “he closed.

In this context, recently the Ministry of Economy, Sergio Massa, released a statement that specifies that “the administrative modifications taken by budget underexecution in some sectors do not affect these areas”, in reference to those of disability, after in the last hours representatives of day centers, NGOs, transporters and relatives of people with disabilities self-convened under the slogan #NoAlAjusteEnDiscapacidad.
