Minister Vallejo after Ripamonti’s remarks: “The commitment of this Government to the environment is not in doubt”

The Government spokeswoman, Camila Vallejo, went to the crossroads of the statements made by the mayor of Viña del Mar, Macarena Ripamonti, who this Saturday demanded that President Gabriel Boric and the committee of ministers reject the Las Salinas project in 72 hours, an initiative promoted by a company of the Angelini group. The sanitation plan generates doubts in part of the community about the possible contamination that could be generated in the area, and this given the inexperience we see in Chile regarding the bioremediation technique that is proposed to meet that objective.

Although Vallejo did not refer directly to the location of the Mayor of Viña del Mar towards the President, he did emphasize that “the commitment of this Government to the environment is not in doubt.”
“We promote and are on the side of dialogue and conversation, and the protection of the environment. The institutions have to function in this matter, there is a committee of ministers who are determined to resolve these issues but I repeat again: the commitment of this Government to the environment is not in doubt, “he said.
The minister said that the Government signed the Escazú Agreement and that the country’s institutions have been strengthened thanks to this treaty. “What will strengthen our institutions and our actions the most is dialogue, and we will always be promoting that with all the authorities and with the citizens,” he concluded.
