Book launch “Fragile, exposed” by Romina Reyes

How can the daily experience be transformed or approached in a book of poetry? This literary exercise is part of what brings “Fragile, exposed”, the new book by the writer Romina Reyes, which will also be presented in Valparaíso.
Under the label Ediciones Libro del Cardo, in almost 80 pages, the author of “Kingdoms” (2014) and “Rivers and Provinces” (2019), the book addresses issues such as migration, uprooting, relations between women and territories as spaces full of emotion, experiences that form a feminist awareness and that make up the development of a female voice.
“I am a reader of women’s literature. It’s a tradition I feel part of. It is a pride for me to place myself in this genre that generates a lot of respect and admiration, in addition to the fact that they are great references of literature that collects experiences of women and dissidents who are part of a counterculture to the masculinized canon of our poetry, “says the writer about this vein.

The texts of “Fragile, exposed”, are a compilation of blog entries and diaries of life, from the period between 2013 and 2021, which were edited and compiled in this book.
Escaping a little from the narrative, Romina Reyes thus delves into the code of poetic language. “In Chile, writers are very closed in the genres with which we started, in my case the prose, and for me to go from the story to the novel was a thing like changing myself to something unknown. The same insecurity comes to me with this, but in truth if one is a writer she has the right to experience all kinds of writing. It’s part of the development of a voice,” says the author.
“I consider myself essentially a storyteller, but poetry is part of my creative exercise, it’s one of the facets of my work, and it’s very special for me to share it,” she adds.
The title refers to the conversation with a friend of the author, where they talked about emotional dramas, and defined themselves as “fragile and willing”. “The name comes from conversations with friends with whom we share sexual and loving experiences which is simply the life you lead. Between irony and reality I feel fragile, and in that feminine fragility, with a huge focus of light that exposes all my failures as a ‘woman’, the good and the bad, then it is like appropriating the discourse of being a woman and speaking as if one were oneself, and from that knowledge emancipate oneself. ”
