Mexico: 7.7 earthquake left one dead and more than 300 aftershocks

A strong earthquake occurred on Monday in Mexico, leaving at least one dead, and its intensity was felt until the capital, where terrified residents left their homes recalling the fateful date, but of 2017 and 1985, when two earthquakes shook the country claiming thousands of lives.
Minutes after a national drill, “the National Seismological Service (SSN) reported an earthquake with magnitude 7.7 located in the vicinity of Coalcomán, in the state of Michoacán. The earthquake, which occurred at 1:05:09 p.m., was felt in Coalcomán and other towns in the state of Michoacán. The coordinates of the epicenter are 18.24 latitude N and -103.29 longitude W and the depth is 15 km,” the Mexican institution reported. The drills are usually held on September 19 after that date, but in 1985, a powerful earthquake affected the capital leaving tens of thousands dead. So far, it is the deadliest earthquake in the country’s history.
