Minister Fernández returns to the country after leaking emails from the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces.

Hours after the organization “DDoSecrets” and the platform “EnlaceHacktivista” revealed the leak of a group of hackers called “Guacamaya” on multiple police and military documents from different Latin American countries that included 400,000 emails from the Joint Chiefs of Staff (EMCO) of the Chilean Armed Forces; Defense Minister Maya Fernandez returned to the country.
The Secretary of State was accompanying the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, on his tour of New York, but after the leak she had to return to Chile to closely monitor the gravity of the situation.

It should be noted that after the event, the Ministry of Defense confirmed the leak and announced that “the Government has ordered an administrative investigation to determine the corresponding responsibilities. In addition, the records have been made available to the military justice system to give rise to the criminal investigation.”
The interruption of the tour prevented Fernández from participating in the tribute to his grandfather, former President Salvador Allende. This, within the framework of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of his speech at the UN General Assembly.
