Former Mayor of Tierra Blanca Reapprehended for Environmental Crimes

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Veracruz reported the reapprehension of Tito Delfín Cano, former mayor of Tierra Blanca, for environmental crimes.
The arrest took place in the vicinity of the Social Readaptation Center of Pacho Viejo when the former official had just left prison, after modifying the precautionary measure of preventive detention.
Since November 2021, Delfín Cano was in prison for the alleged crimes of abuse of authority, breach of a legal duty and fraud.

The recapture came after Judge Mónica Segovia ordered his release, in compliance with a plain and simple indirect amparo granted by a federal judge, according to Milenio.
He added that the law firm that leads the defense of the also former PAN deputy assures that the personnel of the Prosecutor’s Office of Veracruz violated the terms of the federal execution, since they never arrested Tito Delfín Cano in the street.
In a brief statement, the Prosecutor’s Office of Veracruz indicated that the arrest warrant was completed against the former official as alleged responsible for environmental crimes against collective security, committed when he served as municipal president of Tierra Blanca.

The case would have to do with an open-air municipal garbage dump, which was closed in 2019 by the current state administration.
Delfín Cano will be presented in an initial hearing before the judge of process and oral criminal procedure of the XI Judicial District of Xalapa to define his legal situation.
On November 27, 2021, the former mayor of Tierra Blanca and candidate for the state leadership of the PAN was arrested in the municipality of Álamo for abuse of authority, breach of a legal duty and fraud.
