Formula 1: Max Verstappen took pole position in Japan and is close to the title

Dutch driver Max Verstappen, reigning champion and leader of the current season, came closer to renewing his Formula 1 title on Saturday after securing the top starting spot for the Japanese Grand Prix. MadMax” made the pole position at the Suzuka circuit with a hundredth of a difference compared to the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), one of the two drivers who discusses his hegemony in the top category of motorsport.

The Dutchman will reach the double championship in Formula 1 if he wins the race and gets the bonus point for fastest lap. Otherwise, it will have to depend on the positions of the two rivals who still have a mathematical chance of surpassing it with five competitions remaining, including that of Japan. In any other case, he will need to achieve eight points more than Leclerc and six more than his teammate, the Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez, who will start from fourth place, behind Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr. (Ferrari). The Japanese GP will be held with chances of rain, from 2:00 in Argentina with transmission of Fox Sports and the Star + platform. The last six editions were achieved by the Mercedes team with the British Lewis Hamilton (2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018), the German Nico Rosberg (2016) and the Finnish Valtteri Bottas (2019).
