Adán Augusto criticizes governors for not supporting GN reform

Interior Secretary Adán Augusto López questioned and criticized opposition governors for not supporting the reform that passes operational and administrative control of the National Guard to the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), and at the same time requesting military support for security issues.
The head of the Segob, who is on a tour to promote the reform, first pointed to Nuevo Leon Governor Samuel Garcia for asking for elements of the National Guard and at the same time having civil security elements allegedly providing private security service.
“And it’s sad, regrettable how Nuevo León, the governor, because I’m going to tell him with all your words, acts with hypocrisy and selfishness. Do you know how many state police officers there are in Monterrey and the metropolitan area? There is called civil force, there are 1,287 police officers who do not really provide public security services, because what they do is provide surveillance service to private companies, supermarkets, convenience stores, gas stations, “he said in a meeting with deputies of the Congress of Tabasco.

“And then it is easy for the governor to pick up the phone, because he is not even capable of sending an office and asking that more elements of the National Guard be sent to him and today there are 8,320 elements deployed between elements of the National Guard and elements of the Mexican Army,” he said.

He also questioned the government of Maru Campos, in Chihuahua, where he maintained that there are 1,100 state police, for 6,000 elements of the National Guard supporting public security issues.
“And let’s not talk about Jalisco, where the classic that was in Spain published a tweet, following a massacre, well, a confrontation in Zapopan: ‘Oh, thanks to our military a massacre was avoided.’ But they are not able to act generously and support a reform like this,” he said in reference to Governor Enrique Alfaro, who on October 18 responded to previous criticism on security issues by stating that at least 10 states led by Morena register higher crime rates than those reported in Jalisco.
In addition, he also pointed to Guanajuato, an entity governed by PAN member Diego Sinhue, assuring that they required the support of the National Guard for the disarmament of the Irapuato police, which had alleged criminal ties.
“It is sad that the other day the National Guard had to disarm and intervene at the request of the state government, the municipal police of Guanajuato. It had practically no police, Irapuato, there in Guanajuato, one of the most important municipalities, economically, politically and socially of Guanajuato because the police were corrupt and were taken over by organized crime, there go the elements of the National Guard to provide public security tasks, “he said.
Adán Augusto López also said before, in the Congress of Tamaulipas, that they will try to make political agreements, but that he will point out the “hypocrisy” of governments and political forces.
“What is not worth is those who act with hypocrisy, with one hand sign the letter where they ask the federal government to send more elements of the National Guard or our Armed Forces or the Mexican Army, to reinforce public security tasks in their states. And with the other they refuse the possibility of supporting this constitutional reform initiative,” he said.
Governors respond
Following Adán Augusto López’s statements, Nuevo León Governor Samuel García said he did not understand where the attacks were coming from, but would only respond with respect and sincerity. He also rejected the data given by the Secretary of the Interior in Tabasco.

I do not want to go to sleep without answering you, Mr. Secretary, Adam Augustus:
I don’t understand where their attacks and qualifiers towards me come from. I will not answer him the same, from me the only thing he has received and will continue to receive is respect and sincerity.

“He was misinformed about the number of police in Nuevo León, it is not 1,287; there are 6,567 from the Civil Force; of municipal police of the ZMM are 7, 002 and 1,152 rural police. In total there are 14,721 security elements,” he said about security elements in the state.
Meanwhile, the governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhué Rodríguez Vallejo, said that the statements of the Secretary of the Interior are of aElectoral character.
“I understand that this is a political issue because the campaigns are approaching, we are not going to fall into this issue in dimes and diretes, we are going to work as we do every day at the tables and municipalities,” the local president told Zona Franca.
