Singer Jazmín Zárate found dead in Oaxaca

The young singer of regional music Jazmín Zárate Aquino was found dead on the morning of November 7, just on her birthday, on a road in San Lorenzo Cacaotepec, in the Valles Centrales region of Oaxaca.
Jazmín went to work at an event in that community and the next day was found dead with signs of violence.
The Oaxaca prosecutor’s office reported that an investigation has already begun for the crime of femicide and that the Institute of Expert Services has already carried out the opinions and studies in forensic genetics to determine the causes of death.

Jazmín, 28, was originally from Cuilapám de Guerrero and was the mother of a young girl.
She had recently participated in the video clip of rapper Ballin “Ella no vuelió” a song against femicides.

His family, partner, neighbors, friends and co-workers are demanding justice for his murder.
“The musical community raises our most energetic protest to clarify this horrendous crime of Jazmín Zárate Aquino who worked as a singer in a musical band and had gone to the town of San Lorenzo Cacaotepec to perform at a concert, where hours later they took her life,” wrote the organization Oaxaca Musical.

Until October of this year, Oaxaca adds 32 investigation folders for the crime of femicide, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP)
