Artificial Intelligence to detect COVID-19 through coughing

The Foundation for COVID-19 Detection, a non-profit organization that develops an application for rapid detection of the virus through artificial intelligence and machine learning, signed a contract with BARDA, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, a government agency of the U.S. Department of Health Unidos.Es an important step for Virufy, It was founded in March 2020 and has volunteers on five continents who are committed to making disease detection instant and free through innovative technology.

This project aims to investigate and develop COVID-19 detection through technology: Viruphy’s patented, patent-pending solution collects a patient’s cough and speech data, and then, using an artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithm, quickly analyzes that data by comparing it to positive and negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) datasets to indicate a possible active COVID-19 infection. PCR tests are universally recognized as the gold standard in molecular diagnosis and testing of COVID-19. This innovation aims to provide individuals, clinicians, employers and governments with early, actionable information about COVID-19 to provide faster results for capturing and predicting health events and reducing the burden of scarce health resources, so that timely medical responses and interventions can be better deployed.” We are deeply grateful to the hundreds of volunteers and dozens of pro-bono companies who have selflessly donated their time, creativity, expertise and compassion in support of our public good mission, and BARDA’s generous support to fund the advancement of Virufy’s Covid-19 detection through technology,” said the Company’s CEO, Amil Khanzada.
