The first pipe welding was carried out in the Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline

The first welding of pipes of the President Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline was carried out at the height of the Buenos Aires town of Salliqueló, in one of the work fronts of the pipeline that will allow a greater evacuation of natural gas from Vaca Muerta, in Neuquén.The progress of the construction has been developed according to the schedule planned by the state company Energía Argentina that has the commitment to deliver the operational authorization of the pipeline by June of 2023.

In this way, the completion of the work would allow the energy balance to stop being deficit next year, to which is added an export potential from future expansions. Energía Argentina reported that the welding allowed the first union of the 36-inch pipes of 12 meters long, manufactured in the Tenaris-SIAT plant of Valentín Alsina, which are part of a total of 48 thousand that the work will demand. The tubes are transferred to the different collection centers of the trace where they are welded on the surface forming sections that are then placed in the trenches. This milestone in the process of the work took place in the vicinity of Salliqueló, corresponding to the third section of the gas pipeline, which goes from kilometer 440 of the trace to the Saturn compressor plant.

The pipeline will increase production in Vaca Muerta, expand gas transport capacity and reach consumption centers. The first section of the GPNK will have an extension of 573 kilometers, and will link the Neuquén town of Tratayén to Salliqueló, crossing Río Negro and La Pampa. It also includes complementary works such as the Mercedes-Cardales gas pipeline of 73 kilometers (30 inches), the expansion of a section of NEUBA II in the province of Buenos Aires of 29 kilometers (30 inches) and a compressor plant in Cardales of 15,000 hp. The project will save more than US $ 2,900 million a year between substitution of fuel imports and reduction of subsidies, increase the availability of gas at competitive prices for industry, businesses and households.
