A woman tried to take a selfie, fell into the river and drowned

This Wednesday morning, a 41-year-old woman who had gone on vacation to the province of Tucumán was found dead near the Los Sosa River. The victim, identified as Daniela Maria Avena, had been wanted since Tuesday afternoon, when she fell into the water after trying to take a photo. The body of Avena was found around 8 in the morning, at kilometer 22 of Provincial Route No. 307 in an area known as Piedras Coloradas, about 400 meters from where she had been last seen. The search was carried out by Volunteer Firefighters from the Tucuman town of Monteros, Infantry Guard personnel, officers of the Special Rescue and Operations Corps (C.E.R.O) and the Lake Police.
According to testimonies from relatives, the woman had climbed a rock on the riverbank to take a selfie, until she slipped. Losing her balance, she fell into the river and was swept away by a strong current.” The search began on Tuesday evening and continued on Wednesday morning, ensuring that it is the specialized personnel who execute it, since the flow of water and the lack of natural light represented a lot of danger for those who tried to collaborate, “explained police sources. Avena was a native of González Catán, west of Greater Buenos Aires, and was visiting the place with her family and friends. To rescue the body from the intense current, firefighters used a rigid board and designed a zip line system with ropes anchored at both ends of the river, where they sent the stretcher. On the other hand, faced with the desperate situation, visitors to the area tried to join the rescue of the woman, but the proposal was prohibited by police personnel to prevent another tragedy from occurring. In this way, the authorities restricted the entrance to the riverbed throughout the night, as reported from the local media El Tucumano. After the accident, those responsible for the Prosecutor’s Office of the Judicial Center of Monteros began to work in the place to perform the corresponding expertise.
