“I am very happy, happy, but above all very grateful to the people because the kindness, generosity, solidarity of our people was once again demonstrated,” President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) said about the march he led to celebrate the four years of his government.
During the morning press conference, the president stressed that his administration has been successful because it has followed an “effective and not failing” formula.
“If you take care of the people, the people respond. It is a lesson for any government anywhere in the world, before turning to see how to help those at the top or certain sectors, you have to look and attend to the people, that is the best policy, “he said.
In the National Palace, López Obrador said that “we must not deceive ourselves that people will not know differences between those who love him and deep down despise and mistreat him or consider him inferior.”

AMLO celebrates youth attendance at the march
During his speech, the president added that he was pleased to see “the generational change. There were many young people not only in the leading cadres but in the members of the citizenry, “he said.
“One of the things that was most celebrated during the march was when I said we are winning the battle against racism, classism, discrimination, that’s what I liked the most,” he said.
The president thanked the attendees who showed him “a lot of affection and wishes that he does well” and mentioned that during his tour of the Angel of Independence to the Zócalo of the CDMX, “he did not hear anything from the INE because that march was a completely different thing.”
Asked what would be the greatest achievement his government has made this year, Lopez Obrador said “the best thing has been the economic recovery.”
“The increase in remittances has helped a lot in the economy, we are estimating 60 billion dollars for this year, it is a record amount but also the main source of income for the country,” he explained.

López Obrador added that the lesson after having led the march is that “if you want to transform, you must have the support of the people, if you are with the people, you will have support and they can come upon you like a pack, nothing happens, it is your protective angel, it is your shield.”
“I am already shocking but I still have a lot of desire to live, science, nature, the creator, luck will allow us to finish this mission, this task, there is not much left, so we are fine. You can’t beat those who don’t know how to give up,” he said.
