The Armed Forces will have a new task. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the airports of Campeche and Ciudad de Carmen will be controlled by the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy.
At a press conference, he explained that the Campeche airport will be controlled by the Defense because it is also in charge of the Mayan Train; while in the case of Ciudad del Carmen it will be the Navy because they are in charge of serving the sea of Campeche and the oil area of the country.
“The Ciudad del Carmen Airport will be managed by the Secretary of the Navy. Ciudad del Carmen, Navy, and the Ministry of Defense, Campeche,” he said.
López Obrador recalled that there will be a new state airline, managed by the company that will manage the Mayan Train, the AIFA and the Tulum airport, with which, he said, there will be more trips, the price of the ticket will fall and, if necessary, cabotage will be allowed.
He explained that with the cabotage foreign companies will be allowed to reach Cancun and pass to Campeche and Mexico City. “Release everything that has to do with air travel,” he said.

He indicated that this new line will be ready by the end of next year and will enter into operation along with the operation of the Mayan Train.
From Campeche, López Obrador reported that the appraisal of the Mexican airline is being made and that the workers agreed to deliver the brand to the government.

He indicated that, in return, the airline’s workers will receive a reward that will be fixed with the appraisal.
“The workers who have already accepted, active and retired, that the brand can be delivered in exchange for a reward that will be set according to an appraisal that is already being carried out, that income is distributed among the workers of the old Mexicana,” he said.
The Armed Forces have, among other tasks, security on the streets of the country; the administration of ports and customs to combat drug trafficking and corruption, and the construction of works, such as the Felipe Angeles Airport and now the Mayan Train.

He indicated that the intention was to create a line in charge of the company “Olmeca Maya Mexica”, of the Sedena, which will operate with 10 leased aircraft and would also include the delivery of the presidential plane that three years after the current administration has not been sold.
