2022 has been a lethal year for journalists in Mexico, the organization Article 19 counted 12 journalists killed in possible relation to their journalistic work, its highest figure for this type of record in the last decade, surpassing the total of crimes of full years, such as the 7 of 2020 and 2021, respectively.
According to the same organization, there is currently an attack against the press every 14 hours. In addition, so far this year the murder of 12 journalists has been reported, which “places Mexico as the riskiest country in the region to practice journalism.”
