AMLO backs Guadiana for Coahuila in the face of Mejía Berdeja’s aspirations

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the Undersecretary of Security, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, aspires to be the candidate for the governorship of Coahuila, although he assured that who has his support is the one who participates in the poll and wins.
In a press conference, he indicated that Mejia Berdeja is within his rights like any citizen and if he is a candidate, a new undersecretary will be appointed, since he would no longer work in the government.
López Obrador said he does not have two candidates and backed Armando Guadiana.

“On a personal note, I support so that things are not misinterpreted, very clearly, those who participate in a survey or those who participate in the survey and win. The one who wins deserves to be supported because it is a partisan, statutory issue and it is decided to do a poll and the one who wins the poll is that he should receive the support, “he said.
Previously, Mejía Berdeja showed his disagreement and ignored the result of the Morena poll in which Senator Armando Guadiana was the winner.

In addition, he disqualified the Morena poll, noting that there was a bias and said that Guadiana should not be the candidate to govern Coahuila for being an ally of “enemies of the fourth transformation.”
A couple of weeks later López Obrador said during his press conference that the official had accepted the results of the Morena poll.
“With a lot of responsibility, with a lot of maturity he expressed to me that the decision that was made from the polls in the party to which we both belong, he accepted it. So, it’s an example Ricardo. I’m not going to tell you anymore,” he said.
