Sofi Tukker: “Argentina is a country we have wanted to go to for a long time”

Sofi Tukker is an American musical duo formed by Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, which began in 2014, and for the first time will visit Argentina to perform at Lollapalooza on Saturday, February 18. In this way, in dialogue with Filo.news, both showed their joy at visiting the country and Sophie said that “it is a very special experience, Argentina is a country that we have wanted to go to for a long time, we have many fans there and it seems a place where we can vibrate very well. ” As for the expectations they have when it comes to presenting themselves to a new audience, Tucker explained that “South American countries are usually very passionate, very committed and the atmosphere is spectacular, but we try not to have so many expectations when we go somewhere for the first time, then whatever happens, we are going to give our best and we are going to be happy with that. It’s also hard not to have them because the audience is so good.” On how they started the band, the musician confessed that he had the idea, but that the project is “inspired by Sophie’s talent”, adding that “I was a DJ and she was inspired by jazz, so I thought, if I work with her and use the elements she can bring me, it can be a unique project, I just had to convince her”. Then, they referenced the pandemic, where they not only took a huge boost in popularity, but started doing live broadcasts and showing their music to people. In fact, Sophie admitted that they carried it out “because we had nothing to do, the tour was canceled and we were at home,” adding that “we did it more than 300 days in a row.” About the music they produce together, Tucker stated that “it’s for dancing, feeling good, creating a community, dancing together, generating a lot of energy and feeling good about yourself.” And, at the same time, the artist pointed out that “many things inspire us, I think traveling inspires, colors inspire, being in nature inspires.” Finally, he referred to the new song they will release called “Sacrifice”, explaining that “it is one of my favorite songs, we wrote it a long time ago and it is very nice to release it together with great producers”, and she closed stating that she has high expectations for 2023, since “we have many collaborations and new music for everyone”.
