Minister Mario Marcel projects “substantial reduction” in inflation level for Chile in 2023

In the midst of the projections delivered by the Central Bank, and in the prelude to the release of a new Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel, gave his assessments regarding the direction that inflation will take in the coming months of this year.
The above, taking into account that in less than a month, the Central Bank (BC) will publish the first Monetary Policy Report (IPoM) of the year, where the governing body is expected to improve growth projections, but raise inflation.

In that sense, the Secretary of State was confident of what the work of the entity will be, emphasizing that “the Central Bank, with its expertise, will make the corresponding projections and each one will make its own.”
“But I think the important thing is that the direction of inflation developments this year is going to be low, and it’s going to be a substantial decline. That is, there is no one who is predicting less than a third of inflation compared to the peak that was reached in August of last year,” he said.
It should be recalled that hours earlier, the president of the Central Bank, Rosanna Costa, emphasized that inflation in the country (which exceeds 12%) is “extremely high” and “remains subject to relevant risks.” It also showed that it has generated “harmful effects on the economy and on people.”
