The National Weather Service added a new color due to high temperatures

Due to the extreme temperatures that affect the AMBA, partially the south of the Litoral, the north of Buenos Aires, the northwest of Córdoba and the north of San Luis, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) had to add to the red color, two gray scales, to describe this phenomenon. In a recent report, the SMN detailed that the locality that had the most days of heat wave, that is, minimum and maximum temperature above the threshold for that area was Ezeiza, with 8 days and the second place was shared: the City of Buenos Aires, El Palomar and La Plata. During the course of this episode several localities exceeded the highest temperature values for a month of March in the last 62 years, highlighting that for some cases the historical record, if any, prior to the decade of the ’60s was also exceeded. It is also noteworthy that some localities exceeded the previous record in force by more than 1 day, which accentuates the extreme of this unusual heat situation, “the agency detailed. When registering so many days with very high maximum temperatures and in several localities of the central east of Argentina several of those days exceeded the previous historical record, the average maximum temperature of the first week of March was exceptionally high between 30 ° S and 40 ° S reaching, unusually, an absolute maximum over the north of the province of Buenos Aires. In agreement, the most significant anomalies were located in the same area, with values ranging between 8 ° C and 10 ° C above normal for the beginning of March, “explained the SMN that shared two maps to graph the difference in a usual March and the current one. According to the last record of this Friday, March 10, the cities with the highest temperature were Gualeguaychú (Entre Ríos) and Sauce Viejo (Santa Fe), with 38.9 and 38.1 degrees, respectively, but in the thermal sensation Merlo stood out, in the Buenos Aires suburbs, with 44.1 degrees, which became the highest number in the whole country this Friday afternoon. Due to the intensity of the heat that has not ceased for more than a week, the Meteorological Service maintains an active red alert for the city of Buenos Aires and the Buenos Aires cities of La Plata, Berisso, Ensenada, Brandsen, Cañuelas, Magdalena, San Vicente, Esteban Echeverría, Ezeiza, La Matanza and Merlo with maximum temperatures ranging between 34 and 37 degrees, although with higher wind chill marks. On the other hand, the SMN maintains an orange alert for the northeast of the province of Buenos Aires in localities such as Tigre, San Isidro, Campana and Zárate, and also for the west of Entre Ríos in Diamante, La Paz, Nogoyá, Paraná and Villaguay, with maximums around 36 degrees in those cities of the Litoral. the rest of Entre Ríos, the north of the province of Buenos Aires, the entire territory of Corrientes and Santa Fe, the center and south of Misiones, the center and north of Córdoba and the southeast of Santiago del Estero were under yellow alert for temperatures that have a mild to moderate effect on health.
