PDI arrests seventh person for the murder of police officer Rita Olivares

A seventh and final subject was arrested for the murder of Sergeant Rita Olivares, four days after the fatal event. The 25-year-old individual who was found by the personnel of the Investigations Brigade of the PDI, presents a bullet wound that is presumed to date from the day of the crime.
Cristián Rodríguez is the name of the subject located in the town of Ríos de Chile, Quillota, in the Valparaíso region. PDI personnel are searching the place where the man was detained, looking for more background.

According to the Public Ministry, the subject nicknamed “El Mono” would have been in charge of driving the vehicle where the gang that confronted the 43-year-old Carabineros official was traveling. After a confrontation between the members of the group, Olivares died from a bullet wound to his head.
During the afternoon of Wednesday, three of the previously detained subjects were placed in preventive detention. One of the seven people arrested corresponds to a woman who allegedly acted as an accessory.
The PDI is expected to hold a press conference around three in the afternoon to provide more background on the case.
