“Torchlight March” | Social organizations march from Puente Pueyrredón to Plaza de Mayo and analyze camping

After the blockade in Puente Pueyrredon, the leftist social organizations nucleated in Unidad Piquetera (UP) held a torchlight march to the Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Casa Rosada and the Ministry of Economy, in request that the Government reverse the adjustments it makes on social programs at the request of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The march that began around 5 p.m. in Puente Pueyrredón and along the highway the demonstrators moved to Plaza de Mayo, where UP will deploy its tents to hold a camp in case they do not receive a response from the Government. The demonstrators also plan to go through the building where the Ministry of Social Development operates, in demand of the cut of budget items for social programs executed by the holder of the portfolio Victoria Tolosa Paz, sources in the sector reported.Piquetera unit in the “Torchlight March” that deployed hundreds of people against the adjustment to social programs | Photo: @ojoobrerofotografia.“The submission to the IMF is producing a disaster on millions of workers and they are preparing to hit even more with 400,000 casualties of the work required by the fund,” details the official statement of the organization. The 9.3% increase in food, “shows the total failure of the program of submission to the IMF of the Minister of Economy Sergoi Massa, a catastrophe for those who live on our salaries,” he adds.Piquetera Unit accompanied by the Union of Argentine Tire Workers (Sutna) headed by Alejandro Crespo | Photo: @ojoobrerofotografia.“We went to the Casa Rosada bringing a request to President Alberto Fernández for a meeting because the Minister of Development Victoria Tolosa Paz still does not receive the organizations in the midst of a brutal adjustment and inflation that eats up income. It is essential to increase social assistance, not to cancel social plans and not to adjust those who have less as Social Development does today, “said Eduardo Belliboni in the prelude to the “torchlight march.”
