Elections 2023: They warn that a false register is circulating that asks for credit card data

The National Electoral Chamber (CNE) warned on Thursday about the circulation of a false website to consult the provisional register of the 2023 elections that asks for credit card data. From the agency dependent on the National Electoral Justice, they recalled that for the provisional register “credit card data is NOT requested”, because the consultants were being victims of Phishing, which is a cyberattack and consists of a form of theft in which criminals pose as legitimate entities such as banks, public offices, or the support areas of e-commerce platforms, and then convince people on the Internet to share personal data with them. “The National Electoral Chamber warns citizens that a FALSE publication of the consultation to the registry that requests credit card data is circulating. The only official website for consulting the register is https://padron.gob.ar,” the official body said in a statement. And he added: “NO other data is requested other than the DNI, gender and locality of the citizen who makes the query.” The provisional register serves for the citizen to verify that their registration data appear correctly. In case of errors, it is the instance to make the claim. The consultation of the register can be done in http://padron.gob.ar, in www.electoral.gob.ar or on the line 0800-9997237.Currently, the register was published on May 5 and will be available until May 19 inclusive, “its purpose is that citizens entitled to vote can make inquiries and make the pertinent claims about their registration data,” reported the CNE.
