United States. Police in the US city of Asheville, North Carolina, managed to find a teenager who was missing for six years, when she was kidnapped by her mother, by the call of a person who recognized her when she heard her case in a Netflix series.
Kahyla Unbehaun, 15, was in North Carolina, about 600 miles from her father’s home in Illinois, who did not stop looking for her all these years.
His case appeared in the final season of “Unsolved Mysteries,” a Netflix series that tells “real cases of baffling disappearances, shocking murders and paranormal encounters,” according to the platform’s synopsis.

Netflix confirmed that “a store owner in North Carolina recognized Kayla Unbehaun, who was abducted in 2017 by her non-custodial mother,” and called police. “A viewer of ‘Unsolved mysteries’ has closed a case!” the company said.
Kayla was 9 years old when she was abducted by her mother, Heather Unbehaun, who had lost custody, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said.
