Public agenda for young people is built with results of “Pull to Transform Michoacán”

Five thousand 819 young people shared their needs and concerns.
Morelia, Michoacán. – After presenting the results of the consultation “Jalo a Transformar Michoacán”, at a press conference headed by Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, the director of the Michoacan Youth Institute (Ijumich), Pedro Alexis Velázquez Guzmán, said that they will serve to build a public agenda that allows to meet the demands and needs most demanded by youth, according to a statement.
“The public policies of the youth in the state will be generated with the information collected in the survey that is the largest that has been done in Mexico, achieving a participation of 5 thousand 819 people between 15 and 29 years of age,” said the head of the Ijumich, after contributing that in the entity one in four Michoacans has that age, hence the importance of this consultation.
Among the results that stood out are: that seven out of 10 Michoacans know that the study is the best tool to get ahead, 50 percent of women have been in situations of harassment or harassment; three out of four young people have been victims of psychological, physical, sexual, economic and patrimonial violence; five in 10 young people said public spaces do not meet people’s needs; And eight out of 10 do not see youth leadership or organizations representing their voice.
The head of the Secretariat of Welfare (Sedebi), Giulianna Bugarini Torres, said that, since also one of the most pressing concerns of this sector, is to have sufficient scholarships, teachers committed to teaching and access to appropriate devices, such as computer equipment and other electronic media, there is already historical support in favor of this sector with 161 million 667 thousand 655 pesos in federal and state welfare programs, for the direct attention of 370,028 young people from Michoacán.

“It’s about 157,052 Youth Building the Future; 15,838 from Youth Writing the Future; 104,835 from Benito Juárez Welfare Scholarships, high school education; 75,989 Benito Juárez Welfare Scholarships, basic education; and, 13,004, from Elisa Acuña Scholarships,” he said.
He also specified that 3,000 young people benefit from the Pension for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities and there are 182 supports for LGBTTTIQ + people; 123 beneficiaries of the Families Caregivers of Children with Cancer program; and five women from the Women with Invasive Breast and/or Cervical Cancer program.
Bugarini Torres mentioned that the attention of young people in the exercise of their rights cannot be seen as minor, since it is one of the most representative sectors of the country. “33 percent of the population is young, it is the sector that has the largest population, because investing in our young people is and will be for the benefit of our country.”
