Andrea Villanueva speaks out for responsible ownership and animal welfare

Morelia; Michoacán.- With the purpose of promoting the responsible ownership of nonhuman animals and providing the necessary tools to the State and municipalities to implement control plans that weigh animal welfare, public health and the safety of citizens, the deputy of District 11 of Morelia Andrea Villanueva Cano proposed before the Plenary of Congress, reforms to the Law of Rights, Welfare and Protection of Animals in the entity, as reported in a statement.
The above, given the need to pay attention isWith the purpose of promoting responsible ownership of nonhuman animals and providing the necessary tools to the State and municipalities to implement special in the care and protection of nonhuman animals, since only our country is located in first place in Latin America with the largest population of dogs; However, not half of them have a home or shelter.
“Responsible ownership is related to public health, because without proper care, dogs and cats can transmit diseases to humans and other animals, deteriorate the environment, contribute to noise and pollution,” he said.
In addition, Villanueva Cano recognized the importance and responsibility that human beings have to provide shelter, food and care to domestic animals, because when acquiring a pet a commitment of between 10 and 15 years is assumed, the approximate duration of the life of a dog and a cat.
With this proposal, the local deputy proposes to develop a canine reintegration plan, in addition to a Census at the State level so that non-human animals, including those in street situations, are part of a Control and Management Plan of specimens, which has a special budget and contains specific axes of Animal Welfare, Public Health and Safety of Citizens.
Likewise, the construction of a Forensic Animal Center belonging to the Unit for Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Animal Abuse, which has the material resources and humane to attend clinically, medically and ethologically to the animals, allowing a comprehensive attention so that they are not only deposited in the municipal centers.
With these actions, the deputy of District 11 asked to approve this type of measures, in order to continue promoting the responsible ownership of animals, in order to also take care of the health of Michoacanos.
