The AFA eliminated one of the relegations of the Professional League

The Extraordinary Assembly of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), which took place this afternoon at the entity’s premises in Ezeiza, resolved to eliminate one of the relegations of the Professional League. In this way, of three relegations approved a year ago, two remained: the last average of the season and the one with the least points obtained by the general table. If the same cast coincides in the two places, the second to last in the general table will descend. At the same time, the plan to gradually reduce clubs in the top category of Argentine football was postponed. That is, there will continue to be 28 clubs that will participate in the League Profesional.La modification was approved unanimously by the 45 assembly members who attended the meeting in Ezeiza, since of the 46 possible only the representative of Talleres de Córdoba was missing. Arsenal would be relegated by average, while Vélez, Huracán and Banfield would have to tie to determine which team would go down to the Primera Nacional, to occupy the anteultimate positions in the annual table. It should be noted that there are still seven dates of the Professional League to be played and in the second part of 2023 the League Cup will be held.
